Album of the Month

Existence

Big Tones grew up in Treaty 4 Territory, spent some time out on the West Coast, and now creates music from Treaty 6 Territory. In his words, “I’m telling my story through music,” and that’s a perfect way to introduce you to his most recent album, Existence.

This 11-track album begins with “Reparation Interlude,” an impactful audio clip of a news reporter discussing the lawsuit against the government for the impacts residential schools had on Indigenous peoples. Existence is compelling, showcasing Big Tones’ versatility and depth as an artist. Each tracks offers a unique perspective, making the album a profound listening experience from start to finish.
