This month’s newsletter focuses on our membership month, but don’t leave if you’re already a member! There’s more Frequency Modulation content later in the newsletter!

Please read about the nationwide campaign advocating for sustainable, long-term federal support for community, campus, and Indigenous broadcasters across Canada.

April is our Membership Month

Apply to renew your membership or become a new member HERE.

April is our annual Membership Month, which means we reach out and ask you to become a CFCR Member, which comes with some cool perks.

When you become a Member, you are eligible to enter member-only contests and perks throughout the year. One example is the tickets hosts so often give away on air; you can only snag those if you’re a member!

There are some amazing local businesses who sponsor the membership cards and offer you all some sweet discounts. Read on for more information about our sponsors.

If you purchase your membership before the end of April, you’ll be entered to win a prize pack including gift cards/gift certificates from some of our sponsors!

All members are entitled to one vote at our Annual General Meeting (AGM) in June. Future newsletters will have more information about that, so stay tuned.

And, importantly, your purchase of a membership supports CFCR. We truly appreciate our members.

Thank you to all of our sponsors! Go support businesses that support community radio!

*Restrictions apply. We ask members to please inquire about the discount with the business before their purchase.

How to Sign Up

You can complete the membership application at cfcr.ca/membership and opt to pick it up at the station or have it mailed. Or, you can come complete the form at the station and it’ll be prepared for you right then and there.

The CFCR station is located in downtown Saskatoon at 267 3rd Ave S. Our office hours are 10am-6pm. We operate out of the third floor, and due to the age of the building, it is only accessible by stairs. We acknowledge the barriers of access with our current location, and will bring your card to the ground floor if needed.

Contact [email protected] or phone 306-664-6678 with any questions about membership applications or accessibility.

We Need YOUR Help in Shaping the Future of Community Radio

We are part of a national effort to secure federal funding for community radio through the Community Radio Initiative (CRI), and we’re asking you to join us.

Will you take 5-10 minutes to submit a short letter of support?

👉 Find more information, template letters, and how to contact your MP here: mycri.ca

Please send your letter to:

-your local MP

-Minister of Canadian Identity and Culture ([email protected])

-Minister of Finance ([email protected])

-Prime Minister’s Office ([email protected])

CC:

Deadline: April 13

This effort could directly result in CFCR receiving more federal funding.

Personalize your letter to highlight the value of Community Radio’s impact in your life. Support from our listeners helps demonstrate the real-world impact of stations like CFCR. It’s not just about media, it’s about community connection, local culture, access to information, supporting voices that might not otherwise be heard.

If you need help or want us to review your letter, reach out to Madi at [email protected].

Thank you for your continued support!

Community Connect

The Community Connect for April 2026 is Empty Arms Perinatal Loss Services. Their mission is to support those experiencing the loss of a child from pregnancy through early childhood. Empty Arms is available on-call 24/7, 365 days per year, free of charge to provide in-hospital supports with a Certified Bereavement Companion and Professional Photographer for grieving families. Families do not need to go through such a difficult time alone.

Their annual gala A Night to Remember is approaching. Join them on May 22 for a curated tapas experience, a dessert auction, games, and meaningful moments of community and hope. Kyla Thomson is this year’s special guest. Learn more and buy tickets here.

New Program On the Air

Our new show, Sinag, is airing every Saturday from 9:00-10:00am. “Sinag” is a Tagalog word meaning “Ray of Light,” and can signify hope, enlightenment, guidance, and positivity. From the rays of light seen on the Philippines flag, to Saskatchewan’s “Land of Living Skies,” CFCR is proud to bring Sinag to the airwaves, every Saturday from 9-10am. Tune in to hear music from the Philippines that will resonate with the Filipino diaspora in Saskatoon. Old songs and new for everyone to relate to. Filipino artists, along with Filipino-Canadian, and other Filipino artists from around the world will be featured, as well as information about cultural events that would interest Filipino listeners.

CFCR acknowledges that we broadcast from Treaty 6 Territory, the homeland of the Cree and Métis Nations, and the traditional territories of the Dene, Saulteaux, Dakota, Lakota, and Nakota. We pay our gratitude to the First Nations and Métis people who have called this ancestral land home for generations, and whose histories, languages, and cultures continue to influence our community. On a foundation of reconciliation, recognition, and respect, CFCR is committed to reaffirming relationships with one another, and to establishing new ones.
