CFCR out in the community

We got some new members!

We had a great time at the Fringe Fest’s Community Corner this weekend. We had a silly game for folks to play: a pin the tail on the donkey inspired tune the radio to 90.5 game. It’s really nice to interact with people face-to-face, as radio isn’t the best facilitator of that kind of connection.

We’ll be out and about a few more times this month. We’ll be at the Broadway Block Parties on August 14, 21, and 28, and we already have some fun stuff lined up for September, so watch for the next edition of Frequency Modulation for all the deets.

Thanks to The Fringe for having us!

So many people came to say hi, take some stickers, play the game, and see what we’re all about.

Album of the Month

Gil & Wil is a female-driven harmonic country duo based out of Saskatoon, made up of members Holly Gilroy & Aiden McRorie Wilson. The influence of prairie roots is heavily audible throughout the variety of western, bluegrass, folk, and old-time tunes each setlist holds.

The duo released their first EP, A Siren’s Tale, and we encourage you to check it out now!

If you love movies, you won’t just want to check out Broadway Theatre, you’ll also want to check out CFCR’s program Reel to Reel on Fridays at 6:30pm!

What’s CFCR working on this month?

We’re spending our summer getting ready for FM-phasis in September. We’re securing all the prizes that will be available to donators, getting all the swag ready, and finalizing event details.

FM-phasis is a fundraising drive, and our supporters who donate get some perks, such as prizes from local sponsors, entries into grand prizes draws, and swag such as t-shirts and mugs, depending on the donation amount.

Historically, FM-phasis has been the source of 15-20% of our yearly budget, so it’s a very important time of year for us! As always, stay tuned for more information.

Check out the design made for this year’s campaign!

Thanks for supporting Saskatoon’s only community radio station. See you next month!
